Advanced Therapy-John Barnes approach to Myofascial Release®
Myofascial Release (MFR) isn’t massage—it’s advanced therapeutic bodywork that addresses chronic pain at its source. As an Advanced John Barnes MFR® practitioner (training since 2014), I’m likely the only advanced MFR therapist within 200 miles of Statesboro offering authentic MFR therapy.
This specialized technique uses gentle, sustained pressure to release fascial restrictions that can create up to 2,000 pounds per square inch of pressure on pain-sensitive structures.
When Traditional Approaches Haven’t Worked
- Chronic pain & fibromyalgia
- Post-surgical restrictions & scar tissue
- Migraines & TMJ dysfunction
- Sports injuries
- Motor vehicle accident injuries
- Pelvic/lower back pain
- Chronic inflammatory conditions
What to Expect
- Wear comfortable clothing (shorts/tank top)
- No oils used - work directly on skin
- Gentle, sustained holds (3-5 minutes)
- May feel warmth, tingling, or release sensations
- Sessions typically last 50-80 minutes
Frequently Asked Questions
How is MFR different from massage?
MFR works on the fascial system using sustained pressure without oil. Massage primarily works on muscles with flowing strokes.
How many sessions will I need?
Varies by condition. Some feel relief after one session, but chronic conditions may need multiple sessions over several months.
Does MFR hurt?
MFR should never be painful. You may feel intensity as restrictions release, but it should always feel therapeutic.
Can MFR help if nothing else has worked?
MFR often helps when other approaches haven't because it addresses fascial restrictions that may be the root cause of your symptoms.
Will I feel immediate results?
Some people feel immediate relief, others may experience delayed responses as the body continues to release restrictions. Everyone's healing process is unique.
